This was my first major attempt at harnessing the looping capabilities of the Boss ME-25 multi-effects unit. It doesn't compare with a dedicated loopstation where layers can be added, edited or removed interactively - you can only add layers with the ME-25. However, it is still a lot of fun, and time rarely flies by as much as when you are soloing over a loop. I restricted myself to ten minutes here, but it would have been very easy to go on all afternoon.
I'd had a few previous tries at filming a performance of this, but they were hamstrung by the fact I didn't have enough jack leads to have all the instruments plugged in at once - it looked a bit awkward having to unplug and replug the Telecaster and bass during the performance. When I had finally bought enough leads, I set this performance up in the spare room. The three instruments were plugged into the ME25 via a simple three-channel mixer, and the ME25's output was plugged into the Lexicon Alpha mixer so I could record the output on the PC using Audacity. At the same time the video was captured on a webcam. This was the first occasion where I captured video and audio separately - a process I use frequently now.
I went into experimental mode putting together the video using AVS Video Editor. I played around with a lot of the included video effects, while the "tunnel" and "Andromeda" clips were downloaded from http://www.ignitemotion.com.
