A brand new song and perhaps the start of a new direction. Basically just a rhythm and lead guitar backed by bass and drums. The delay effect on the Boss ME-25 was crucial here - turning the rhythm guitar part into the choppy sound that drives the song along. The same effect was used on all the lead parts as well.

No acoustic guitar or keyboard here - although it is the PSR-500 that is providing the drum sounds, programmed via MIDI. Not usually the way I do things, but it was absolutely necessary for the drums to be completely in time, and I like the way it came out. I struggled getting the vocals right, but with the double tracking and delay added I think they come over well.

Many influences at work here, including Joe Meek with the galloping hi-hats and toms and twangy guitar sounds, and maybe a bit of Johnny Marr too. I think this is by far my best recording and production to date, and almost deserves a new band name and profile. I'm certainly looking to do a few more songs in this back-to-basics vein.

I am standing on a hill
I am looking all around
I have so much time to kill
I am neither lost nor found

I have never been this far
I have never been this far
I have never been away so long
So long

All my dreams begin to fade
All my wishes turn to dust
All my memories mislaid
All my riches left to rust

Who are all these people here?
Who is knocking on my door?
Can I run and disappear?
Do I want this anymore?
